Share Books
To inspire a love of reading we share engaging books in gift-worthy condition. Children’s books are constantly changing and adapting to kids’ interests so we request recently published books.
Having like-new books to choose from sends the message that not only is reading important, but our city’s children are worthy.
HOLIDAY BOOK DRIVE SUCCESS!
Thank you so much for the outpouring of support for our 2024 holiday book drive! Through our amazing community partners and their events, we were able to share 6,000 books with children in Alexandria this holiday season: ARHA, Mother of Light Center, Volunteer Alexandria, Fund for Alexandria’s Child, Concerned Citizens Network of Alexandria, and Cora Kelly School for Math, Science, and Technology!
Stay tuned for what we have planned for 2025!

New Books
We have a wishlist of current sought-after books on Amazon, but encourage you to shop from our wonderful local bookstores, Hooray for Books and Old Town Books. The effects of education during COVID are still evident and as a result, reading for pleasure can be a hard sell among some of our youth, particularly mid-elementary age and up.
We have found that graphic novels are the key to bringing the online generation back to reading and are not only met with excitement but shrieks of joy when they catch sight of them. We do not get as many of these donated and they are especially welcome as well as culturally and linguistically diverse titles.
